Racial and Ethnic Approach to Community Health (REACH) is a community and academic collaboration that brings culturally appropriate strategies and implementation to close the health disparities gaps in specified chronic diseases in African American/Blacks and the Hispanic/Latino population. The Data Manager/IT and Communication Specialist will report directly to the Program supervisor and will work with the specified communities, grant partners and the Evaluation Specialist. Together with the team, the Data Manager will conduct the duties specified below:

The Data Manager/IT and Communication Specialist will help collect and manage data so that it can be used to analyze REACH functions, productivity, and redundancies for evaluation. The individual will assist the REACH program with data tracking and the development of evaluation instruments in collaboration with the CDC Evaluator and the REACH Evaluation Specialist. 

Coordinates and conducts program activities that provide data to support and enhances decision-making, strategic planning, outcomes assessment, grant guidelines and external reporting; serves as liaison between the department and other constituents. Perform data entry, runs reports, verifies the integrity of data and reports issues. Designs, develops and implements moderately complex database applications to accommodate a variety of user needs.

To complete these tasks, the Data Manager/Coordinator will; (1) monitor and maintain research database; (2) perform quantitative descriptive, bivariate, multivariate, qualitative analyses (e.g., focus group, content analysis), and mixed methods research; (3) work independently and collectively on program-specific assessment projects; (4) complete data reports that are conducive to both Creighton University and the CDC; (5) meet with partners and other program entities routinely to ensure collection of data is thorough, precise and complete and; (6) extracts, manipulates, and reports data to internal and external constituencies; manages data; prepares and maintains data files; verifies data to ensure data integrity; (7) acquires, manipulates, develops, and maintains longitudinal data sets, verifying accuracy and consistency over time; writes documentation for programs and operations; (8) designs and develops standardized operational, management, and ad hoc reports; prepares reports fulfilling the requirements of federal, regional, and state agencies and other external organizations; works with user community to understand reporting needs; identifies sources; (9) serves as a resource person in areas of data management and reporting, as well as a representative on committees; performs all IT and communications needs of REACH which include design website, writes monthly newsletter, designs brochures and all special projects and other duties as assigned and; (10) complete other job duties as assigned by the Program Director or Senior Associate Director or Program Supervisor.

  • Collect Data from all partners in the community and program entities.
  • Create data report for distribution bu the Program Supervisor, Senior Associate Director and Project Director.
  • Assist Evaluation Specialist in data reporting to the CDC and constituents.
  • Create powerpoint presentations of data and other communication tools like brochures and signage.
  • Conduct all IT functions like the creation of websites.
  • Travel to partner communities to collect data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorâ??s degree required; Masterâ?? Degree preferred;
  • 2+ years related experience in database or system management which includes data gathering methodology, data input, analysis and management network
  • 2+ years of experience with relational databases and SPSS, knowledge of descriptive statistics, statistical software, reporting tools and Microsoft Office programs
  • Competence in one or more programming language a plus (such as VBA, PHP, Excel Macros)
  • Ability to develop web-based surveys
  • Ability to understand the data needs of users and produce reports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of data gathering methodology and data input, management communications, networking, and analysis;
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SPSS;
  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics, statistical software, reporting tools, including Microsoft Office programs;
  • Competence in one or more programming languages a plus (such as VBA, PHP, Excel Macros);
  • Ability to develop Web-based surveys;
  • Ability to understand the data needs of users and produce reports;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;
  • Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday work;
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member, while exercising independent and critical judgment;
  • Ability to prioritize work with multiple and conflicting demands in a deadline-oriented environment;
